Mark Pember is one of the true breaks aficionados, having been instrumental in shaping the sound from its origins in big beat back in the mid 1990s. He was involved with Brighton label, Wall of Sound, in its heyday, producing tracks that put the funk in the breakbeat, unafraid to try new directions and new styles. This experience colours his sound, keeping the rhythms fresh and the punters moving.

On the production front, Mark's closely aligned with Kingsize, one of the foremost breaks imprints. While he keeps up a constant touring schedule (this year he's already played in the UK, Germany, Finland, Italy, Australia, China, Belgium, Holland, Portugal and the Czech Republic), he's somehow found time to drop two artist albums, a number of mix CDs, and several 12" releases. His brightest moment is arguably Beyond the Darkness, which was the perfect snapshot of his stylistic approach to breaks - tech funk sonics with the bumping beat keeping things moving along at breakneck speed.

A constant visitor to these shores (he was here in April), Meat Katie brings elements of techno, tribal sounds, and even electro to the table, throwing them down in the mix and seeing what sounds good. See what a member of the breakbeat elite has to offer.
