Creative Volunteering Workshops in Newcastle

The new Hunter Region Course timetable of
Creative Volunteering Workshops
Six nationally accredited one day skills development workshops at only
$25 each
The course is made up of six self-contained one-day workshops that focus
on the day to day and practical challenges that face every community
based organisation where volunteers do most of the work.
Delivered by qualified tutors who have first hand experience as
volunteers, the workshops are designed to enable people to draw on their
own experience & apply the training to their own organisation.
You can choose to complete the whole course or attend any single
workshop you like.

networking tools for your museum or gallery?

Concentrates on how to establish & maintain successful networks within &
across communities...covers key concepts & uses practical exercises.

2. Wondering how to plan the future of your museum or gallery to be &
work out how will you get there?
Come to:
Carry out Business Planning
Newcastle Regional Museum
Saturday 18th Oct
10am - 4pm
Covers essential areas of planning & management for regional non-profit
& cultural organisations; look at where your museum or gallery is now &
where you want it to be, & draft up the key elements of a Business plan.

3. Need more funds for your museum or gallery? Who doesn't...
Come to:
Develop Funds + Resources
Newcastle Regional Museum
Friday 24th Oct
10am - 4pm
Develop strategies & prepare proposals for funding, sponsorship & other
resoursing options. Identify & target potential sources of support &
develop the basics of a winning grant or sponsorship application.

4. Do you have a wonderful collection & want to make the best of it?

Saturday 25th Oct
10am - 4pm
Covers essential areas of working with cultural collections including
ways of linking with the community, planning a collections strategy,
developing a collection policy, assessing the significance of objects &
or collections, ethical issues, interpretive approaches, target
audiences & legal & insurance requirements.

5. Need to work out how best to market your museum or gallery?
Come to:
Undertake Marketing
Newcastle Regional Museum
Friday 31st Oct
10am - 4pm
Concentrates on developing a marketing plan particularly for non-profit
cultural organisations. Activities include exploring the purpose & uses
of a marketing plan, identifying target markets & developing practical
actions to help your organisation position & present itself effectively

they are successful?

Covers the key elements of planning & programming arts & cultural
events. Incorporates generating concepts for & designing an event,
event planning tools, event budgeting & scheduling, programming
activities & identify risk management strategies
