The Red Room Company is creating a unique
audio
documentary `Global
Odes', to be recorded at The Newcastle Young
Writers'
Festival
(NYWF) in October,
2003. &n
bsp;
`Global Odes' will explore how issues, based on social and
political
themes of national and global significance, affects the writing of
poets
attending the Newcastle Young Writers' Festival. Original
poetry,
interview
snippets and other recordings will be combined to
create an audio
theatrical
thesis on the responses new Australian
poetry and poets have to
their
current social landscape.
`Global Odes' aims to be broadcast as
separate
pieces for national
broadcast through national community Red Room
Radio
links. The
project will also be submitted to various government
bodies and
arts
organizations as an example of what and how new Australian
writers
react to the social and political landscape of their country.
Snippets of the project and other details will be available for
listening at www.redroomorganisation.org, and
http://www.youngwritersfestival.org. Ideas relating to `Global Odes'
will also
be posted on
the online forum at
http://www.youngwritersfestival.org
Any individuals attending
the festival
who are interested in
contributing to this unique project please

johanna@redroomorganisation.org. Poets, lyricists, sound
experimenters,
novelists- anyone who has a response to `Global Odes'
we want your
ideas and
