Australia's break dancing finals are being held Sat August 9th @ State Sport Centre, Sydney Olympic Park with judges Thomas Hergenroether, founder of international BOTY comp, along with B-Boy Crumbs (Style Elements Crew / Tribal Clique), Katsu & Takashi from Japan. Promising to be sell-out event (so get your tix early), this is your chance to see Australia's best breakers in action as they vy for the honour of performing at the world finals later this year.

After seeing the amazing talent at the world finals in Hannover, Germany in 2000 and checking out the Aus finals last year, I can say without question - don't miss this event!

official press release follows:

INTERNATIONAL GUESTS ANNOUNCED FOR BOTY AUSTRALIA 2003

Rockstar Management has confirmed Battle Of The Year Australia's 2003 competition judging panel.

One of the world's most well-known BBoys - CRUMBS - will be heading down
from his base on the west coast of the US, to both judge the comp and also
perform at the event.

BBoy Crumbs is a member of the famous Style Elements Crew, also reps for
Tribal Clique and is considered one of the great innovators of the
danceform. A veteran at 24, Crumbs has featured in a stack of both BBoy and
music videos over the past few years.

Also confirmed, BBoys KATSU and TAKASHI will be making there way from Japan
to judge the competition. Katsu was a judge at BOTY AUST 2002, but Takashi
will be appearing here in Australia for the first time. Takashi is a member
of Tribal Team Japan, and also Kamikaze Crew, and is noted for
extraordinary powermoves and amazing body strength

THOMAS HERGENROETHER, originator for the Battle Of The Year series, is the
final guest judge on the star panel. The huge success of last year's
Australian event has prompted Thomas to come to Australia himself this year
to check out the exploding scene.

THOMAS HERGENROETHER, on Battle Of The Year International;
"...hip hop culture is existing worldwide without any borders and no
cultural or language problems and barriers. My aim with BOTY is to give
B-Boys/ Girls a worldwide forum where they can meet, exchange opinions and
make new friends. It is so exciting to see in which countries B-Boying is
existing, people from countries like Mexico, Peru, Israel or Reunion are
calling us to join our event. To me this is real cultural and social work."

Up to 4000 spectators are expected to attend the event, which will be held
at the State Sports Centre in Sydney. The 2002 event sold out with 1000
spectators, days before the event last August, reflective of the
groundswell in public interest in the danceform.

BATTLE OF THE YEAR is a worldwide phenomenon, featuring a series of 13
qualifying events around the globe before the world's best breakdance crews
come together for an international final in Germany each October. The
Australian winning crew will be flown to Germany as their major prize.

The move to state of the art Olympic facilities is reflective of the need
for more spectator room and to create a more interactive space for everyone
who comes to the event.

BATTLE OF THE YEAR, the world's premier breakdance competition, will hold
it's second annual Australian Competition on August 9, 2003, complete with
a stellar hip hop performer line up and international guests.
