Photojournalism short course

December 1, 3, 5 (9.30am-4.30pm)

$650 This 3-day short course aims to enhance the participants` photographic skills and increase their understanding of the way photographs are incorporated within the printed page.

The course is designed to run over one week, with classes on Mon, Wed & Fri and practical assignments set for Tue & Thu.

Topics covered include: composition and light; photographic critique; ways to photograph people on the street; professional and ethical issues around photojournalistic work; use of flash; getting the best from a modest range of equipment; professional photojournalism; marketing strategies - and others.

Taught by experienced photojournalist and long-time photography educator Margaret Waller and award-winning Australian photojournalist Michael Amendolia.
Participants must bring a manually-operable SLR camera to the class each day. (ie - the camera user must be able to manually adjust shutter speed and focal length on the camera).

Participants will be expected to purchase a quantity of 35mm film and to arrange and pay for photo processing of assignments shot during the course.
