Peter Newman is a Sydney based video artist who has exhibited and performed at various NSW festivals and galleries.

[quote] Peter Newman is an emerging artist based in Sydney who primarily produces time-based works for both installation and performance. His practice is concerned with intuitively drawing from both digital technologies and organic artmaking methodologies in aspiring towards a seamless fluidity of process, ultimately offering an abstract cinema for the ears and eyes. He is driven by a need to explore the complex nature of time and its perception, and to produce work which exists firmly within it, devoid of an abstract critical distance. Newman has performed or exhibited around Australia in varying capacities at the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Canberra Contemporary Art Space, the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts, the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, the 2004 and 2006 Sydney Big Day Out music festival, and numerous artist-run spaces such as First Draft and Phatspace.
