Anthony Pateras & Robin Fox

The duo of pianist/composer/improviser Anthony Pateras and computer based sound artist Robin Fox has been in a state of constant development for around three years. Early experiments with found and constructed instruments morphed into complex explorations of real-time piano and analog synthesizer processing and now the duo perform with a unique combination of analog electronics, microphones, objects and laptop.

They have developed a reputation in Melbourne for delivering high powered and exciting performances that focus on spontaneous composition and the real time processing of improvised sonic objects. These transformations influence future actions resulting in a generative or recursive compositional feed-back loop. Recent performances have explored the potential of vocal sounds through various amplification systems (dirty CB mic, digestible transducer), analog electronic devices (synthi AKS), music boxes and raw electronic signals. Wherever possible the duo paly in multi-channel configurations that allow for real-time diffusion.

Recent performances include the Sydney Opera House for What is Music? 2002, support for Kevin Blechdom at Electrofringe 2002 and a world tour covering Western Europe, New York and Tokyo in early 2003. Their work has been broadcast locally, nationally and internationally and was included in the recent Variable Resistance showcase of Australian sound art. The duo
